DUNIA A. SHIVE Dunia A. Shive was named President and Chief Executive Officer of Belo Corp. in February 2008. Previously, Shive served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Belo Corp. from February to November 2007, with responsibility for executing Belo's strategy across the Company's legacy and Internet businesses. From February 2006 thru November 2007, Shive was the president/Media Operations with oversight of all of Belo's television, cable news and interactive media operations, two of the Company's three major newspapers, The Providence Journal and The Press-Enterprise, and Belo's Capital Bureau in Washington, D.C. From January 2005 through January 2006, Shive served as executive vice president of Belo Corp., and from January 2004 through December 2004 as executive vice president/Media Operations. Shive previously served as executive vice president/Chief Financial Officer of the Company, and has been a member of Belo's Management Committee since June 1998. Shive served as Chief Financial Officer from June 1998 to December 2003. Shive joined Belo as corporate controller in May 1993 and served in that capacity until January 1995, when she was promoted to vice president/Controller. A year later, she was named vice president/Finance, and in July 1997 she became senior vice president/Corporate Operations. She was named senior vice president/Chief Financial Officer in June 1998. From 1989 to 1993, Shive served as assistant controller for Tyler Corporation, a publicly held company headquartered in Dallas. From 1982 to 1989, she was an audit manager for Arthur Young & Company, where she worked with several publicly held companies, including Belo. Shive holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Texas Tech University and has completed executive education courses at Harvard Business School (Strategic Marketing Management) and Stanford Graduate School of Business (Leading Change and Organizational Renewal). In 2008, she was recognized as a "Distinguished Alumnus" by Texas Tech University and in 2001, she received an "Outstanding Alumni" award from Ernst & Young (Southwest Region). Shive is a past member of the Board of Directors of the United Way of Metropolitan Dallas and also serves as Chair of the Television Operator's Caucus. She and her husband, Robert, have three children. |
